“SAHARA – we took Hassan to the Merzouga Desert. AND IT WAS MAGICAL !! Hassan was in charge of EVERYTHING practical. Picked us up in Marrakesh in a safe car, with a good driver. Then we drove through the Atlas Mountains, where Hassan took us to some of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. Where Hassan provided the best places to eat and stay overnight. Merzouga was the highlight of the trip – and lived up to everything we had hoped for. Lazy camels, most beautiful sandbanks and a starry sky I have never seen before !! It was a lifelong memory!
“We became such good friends with Hassan that we took him to his village Aroumd, where we stayed for 3 days. We could have moved to Toubkal, gone to a cafe in the neighboring village … But we let Hassan take care of us. And that was the best decision. Hassan took us for a walk through Aroumd, the Berber village he grew up in. We were greeted by the goat shepherd, ate local apples, the ladies weave blankets, visited the football field that is laid out when the river is dry, a walk in Berber women’s hammam. But the best part was that Hassan’s friend, Mohamed and his wife Fatima, invited us for tea and cake. Since then, we spent every afternoon on the terrace of Mohamed and Fatima. Laughed, ate cakes and popcorn. Overlooking Toubkal, we became best friends.
