Three Day Trek Including Ascent of Jebel Toubkal – Alternate Route

Imlil Valley

Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – Toubkal Refuge.

After a transfer Imlil, begin your trek. Heading along the Mizane Valley, first pass the village of Aremd and then onto the shrine of Sidi, which attracts tourists and pilgrims. From here the trail continues to climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging its way up to Toukbal Refuge (3206m) where you will stop for the night.

Day 2: Toubkal Refuge – Toubkal Summit – Toubkal Refuge

Early in the morning you make your attempt on the summit of Jebel Toukbal. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts. The views along the way make the journey more than worthwhile.  When you come back from Toubkal, you sleep again in Toubkal Refuge. 3 or 4 hours up and 3 hours down.

Day 3: Toubkal Refuge – Imlil – Marrakech.

Get up and have breakfast. Then descend and have lunch in Aremd village( the highest village in Imlil valley). Then go down to Imlil centre, where you will meet your driver to take you to Marrakech. 5 hours.

Concerning this alternate route, if you come back to the refuge and you still have time, you can go all the way down to Aremd village, where you will sleep in a guest house. Then on the third day there are many other options; you can walk through Berber villages of Imlil valley or go to the Imnan valley or do another mountain before you go to Marrakech at four or five o’clock.
